Trusting Yourself and Your Community to Grow: Ad Age x OUTFRONT Celebrate Women’s History Month

March 28, 2024

As Women’s History Month comes to an end, we celebrate OUTFRONT’s contributions to driving female growth in business.

I’m Victoria Mottesheard, Vice President, Marketing here at OUTFRONT and a co-founder of our women’s employee resource group. The ERG’s mission is to support women's professional and personal development by bringing together a diverse mix of women who, through discussion of topics relevant to today's issues, educate, inspire and encourage women to reflect on their own goals as they strive to build a more successful and supportive community at OUTFRONT.

During Women’s History Month, we partnered with Ad Age to host the ‘Women, Wine & Wisdom’ panel here at our OUTFRONT Headquarters in NYC. In a room filled with women, OUTFRONT Chief Marketing Officer Jodi Senese kicked off the event with an inspiring introduction. “When I started in the out-of-home industry in 1981, this kind of gathering would have been impossible,” she stated. “There simply were not any women in the room.”

Moderated by Ad Age editor-in-chief Jeanine Poggi, the panel featured Andrea Zaretsky, CMO of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management & E-Trade, and Lachi, singer-songwriter, founder, & CEO/Board Governor, RAMPD. The panelists shared advice for women in the marketing industry.

Andrea started the evening speaking of building confidence and trusting ourselves. She shared her motto, “What’s the worst that can happen?”

Lachi spoke about her early career and experiencing imposter syndrome at events with so many important people. Of the entire evening, this quote of hers resonated with me the most: “Showing up is great, but you have to do something when you get there.”

We also honored instrumental women in business by featuring career lessons from members of Ad Age Leading Women across our digital out of home media nationwide. “This series is about women’s history through the lens of personal history and the transformative paths these trailblazers have taken as they’ve helped drive marketing and the culture forward,” explained Jeanine. “We hope these stories of learning from failure, knowing your worth as a leader, and embracing the power of disability marketing inspire future generations of leaders.”

Together, we celebrated women who use their expertise, creativity, and voices to move our industry forward and help others.

OUTFRONT also supports women-owned brands by driving awareness and action through out of home. Just to name a few women-owned brands trusting out of home to drive growth are The INKEY List, Poppi, and Caged Bird HR. Colette Laxton, Co-Founder of The INKEY List, shared on the company blog her advice to other women in business: “Be prepared to dust yourself off many times. You need to believe in yourself without wavering, because there will be times when nobody else believes in you.”

As a female disruptor and passionate advocate for health and mental and physical wellness, Cierra Gross, CEO of Caged Bird HR, shared with Authority Magazine some best advice: “Focus on what’s in front of you.” She elaborated that states that it helps her refocus when anxiety gets the best of her, and her mind starts running away from her.

Poppi CEO Allison Ellsworth was featured by Austin Women, talking about prioritizing motherhood and entrepreneurship at the same time. She believes that women don’t have to put their dreams on hold; that they can pursue the fullness of the lives they want to live.
